About Me
Hello there! I am Stefani Goldberg and I am a therapist who ultimately helps people to explore and nurture their authentic self in a compassionate and loving way. I know it is important to know a little about me and my background so here are some highlights.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I earned my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas in Denton. Gosh, I love that town so much! It's a feel good type of a town, and I go back most chances I get to soak up the music, college food, funky atmosphere, and warm vibe that flows through me when I am there. During graduate school, I worked extensively with men and women affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. I gained experience with groups and individuals while focusing on treatment through education, empowerment, and trauma resolution. I also worked as a behavioral therapist, providing support and care to children with autism. This work highlighted the need for family support when adjusting to a child’s disability, and it taught me a great deal about the unique dynamics among the family and caregivers of a child with autism.
After relocating to Austin, I joined Austin Travis County Integral Care (ATCIC) as a rehabilitation specialist and intake counselor, working primarily with clients diagnosed with schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, major depression, and other co-occurring disorders. To me, my work with this population represents an extremely meaningful experience that has defined much of my interest and expertise in therapy. It was a challenging and valuable opportunity to highlight my skills in mindfulness training, trauma resolution, and crisis intervention.
This past year I became certified in perinatal mental health. I work with women struggling with perinatal mood disorders such postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, or psychosis. I help women to feel supported throughout the entire process whether that is fertility, pregnancy, becoming a new mom, or grief and loss.
I have been in private practice for 8 years and am committed to providing a safe, warm, emotionally focused, and honest environment. I help my clients feel empowered to tackle life’s biggest challenges, decisions, and transitions.
Outside of the office, I love to spend time outdoors, hiking with my three kiddos, dog, and husband. I also enjoy art & music festivals, running, trying new restaurants, and cooking at home.
If you would like to know more about my counseling approach, professional credentials, or areas of specialization, please contact me at any time. I look forward to meeting you!
